Maybe it started when I was young, when my father, who worked in the health care industry, would take me to visit the unknown (to me) elderly in wheelchairs. At least that's all I can pull from the foggy memory. Or maybe me Dad brought me because I was so drawn to meeting and greeting others. Chicken or the egg? I digress.
I'm Sada, pronounced "Say-duh", but I'll pretty much answer to anything close. Not by choice really, I think I'm conditioned to react to similar sounds. A gift and a curse; not all similar sounds are my name. Again, I digress. But maybe that's what life, or at least my life is; a series of digressions. Sounds bad maybe, but that's not how I meant it.
So long story short (too late???), what I've been trying to get at is that I've always connected with seniors, even as a child just forming memories. As a small child I was always there to hold my Grannie or Great-Grandma's hand as she descended the porch steps. Even if the sun was in my eyes. As an adult I feel as though I'm among friends who have wisdom to share.
I'm also a gamer. Yes video games. I was that little girl with bouncing red curls as I jumped up and down next to the Christmas tree whilst clutching my brand new Nintendo. Yes, just Nintendo. Not a Super Nintendo. Not Nintendo 64. Just a Nintendo.
No, I'm not digressing this time (well, maybe a little), I'm getting to a point; that I love games!
Not only do I love playing games, I also enjoy creating them! Which comes in handy as I now am employed at a wonderful senior living facility where I get to do programs and social media. This blog will be about the games I make or have come across and my experience facilitating them with seniors.
This is blog is made for and geared to others in my line of work. Teachers of school aged children might also benefit from the games available for download as well, such as themed BINGOs. I look forward to hearing your thoughts as I go as well. Let's do this together! Teamwork makes the dream work!
